An on-going update of the current goings on with the UAE.

Keep us going. Check out our newest 2007 Fundraising Project: Prosperity Pledge Donors on the Donation tab.

June 2006 saw our booth at the FSMTA annual conference, and September 2006 the 9/11 anniversary weekend we were honored to be in Boston for the NAHA Conference. Thanks everyone!

MARCH 16-19 2006, FUND RAISER A SUCESS- Aromatherapy Conference Tours, Inauguaral Conference in St.Petersburg, Florida. ERMI and UAE provided chair massage for donation per minute by Nyssa and DougE; we raffled an awesome gift basket (that Geraldine started and many donated to) (Winner: Trish Reynolds) and raffled a dinner date to the banquet (for 2, one on either side) with Sylla's Brother D who graciously volunteered to help. Jane Buckle "claimed" him immediately and fought awfully hard, we had to draw at least 12 names before we got another, and she had to share him with Janet Maddox!! Thank you everyone for helping us raise just under $1000 for United Aromatherapy! now we can buy bottles and supplies we need to carry on!!

December 6, 2005: ERMI moves into Baton Rouge Louisiana, and is deploying out of the Central Fire station. October 27: ERMI "A" Team is home from first deployment at the FEMA/MEMA Joint Field Office Biloxi; the "B" team working now, with "C" to follow next week. We made a huge impression, hopefully some we worked on will sign the guestbook, and therapists will issue their impressions shortly along with pics of the destruction not seen on TV. (now on gallery, scroll down to Hurricanes). The coast of Mississippi is devastated, and the people are shattered. Our work is touching a lot of folks and helping them to cope, please continue the support. Many therapists have signed on, and we are thankful for this.

October 10, 2005: ERMI NEWS: FEMA/MEMA have requested our services in Biloxi, MS for the next month. HERE is a typical deployment for any considering signing on:
The plan would be arrive on Monday for training, if you haven't gotten it already, work Tuesday to Saturday, Sunday travel home. We will be working on FEMA responders at their Joint Field Office in Biloxi. They have 1500 people working there. Your lodging & some food would be taken care of. Travel would be on your own. We are working on travel reimbursement, but that may take some time. If you can volunteer with ERMI let me know the dates you can work ASAP.

Lodging is at a volunteer fire station, on a cot, with up to 10 other team memberss. You will be working under the Dept. of Health, MS and ERMI. Our rules are pretty simple; if you feel you can't follow them please don't sign up.

1) WE ARE A TEAM, if you have an agenda for deploying for this duty stay home. You must work as a team and follow the Chair Massage for Emergency Response that has been or will be learned. There are reasons we use this massage. We don't do deep tissue or energy work. This is stress-reduction massage.

2) NO SELF DEPLOYMENT, you will work only where the Dept. and ERMI assigns you. No going out on your own and massaging who you feel like.

If you can follow these 2 rules we welcome you to come and work with the team. Those of you who are coming from states that don't have an ERMI team will be required to take the first day training. The cost is $70. As I have suggested before try the "Adopt-A-Therapists" program and get your clients, family and friends help you out with this and any other costs that may occur. ERMI t-shirts, required, will be available at the cost of $10. All proceeds from these 2 expenses go to benefit ERMI and your state teams.

Sept 27, 2005: News from DougE: "The first CERMT just left Gulfport, MS and should be home by now. We have a terrific response from all that we worked on. We worked the EOC's in Gulfport, Hancock counties and in Waveland, Biloxi, Bay St. Louis Fire Departments, and the DMORT (temporaty morgue) in Gulfport. The Liziana Volunteer Fire Department has turned their station over to CERMT/NCCISM to stay at as long as needed. Team 2 should be here Tuesday and start working Wednesday. We still need members to work next week, Sept 27 to Oct. 3. Please step up and volunteer, IT IS OF THE UPTMOST IMPORTANCE TO KEEP THE TEAM THERE AND WORKING. Contact me ASAP so I don't have to stress out for the rest of the week."

Sept. 23, 2005: CERMT team has been working since tuesday in Jackson MI, 5 team members deploying each week until December, having been contracted by state. DougE is training therapists in Shreveport this weekend (and all over the country, check the CERMT site for details), and picking up supplies to take back the the workers in MI. He is working to set up the staging for LA, and will be bringing in the ERME team soon. He will issue us a real report soon as he can get to internet!

Sept 7, 2005- URGENT request from the Mayor of Shreveport for anti-infectious supplies for one of the of 3 domes housing displaced citizens. There has been a contagious outbreak. PLEASE send ANTI-INFECTIOUS BLENDS, BULK OILS, SPRAYS, DIFFUSORS for use in the dome ASAP to Geraldine Z. as described below.

September 2, 2005: At this time we now have a staging area: "Camp Runamuk" graciously donated space in Shreveport, LA that can take our supplies and host our teams going in! Bless you Geraldine!! CERMT will go in a few weeks to begin training local therapists.

here is news from Geraldine:

"We have 3 stadiums full of evacuees and more facilities are being opened as we speak. The Red X is overwhelmed by the urgency of getting food and water to these people. Our fire, emt, police officers have been dispatched to Baton Rouge (3.5 hr drive and NOLA 5 hr drive).
The local Amer Rd X is overwhelmed and on their behalf I have already arranged for 124,000 8 and 12 oz btls of hand sanitizer to be delivered here.
SMALL SHIPMENTS SHOULD COME TO MY ATTENTION AT THE ADDRESS BELOW. Large shipments will go directly to the warehouse -contact me for details and for any other reason! Blessings- Geraldine Zelinsky
